Questions You should ask

If you are considering participating in a clinical trial, ask the investigator the following questions :

• What is the main purpose of this study ?
• How will the treatment be administered to me, and what will happen to me as a participant ?
• How long will the study last and what will I be asked to do as a participant ?
• What is known about the study treatment, and have any results been published ?
• Is the study product being compared with a product already on the market ?
• Will the study product help me personally ?
• Can I continue to use the study product after the study is over ?


• Will I continue to receive support after the study is completed ?
• Will there be any unpleasant side effects ? Could it harm me ?
• How am I covered if I suffer unexpectedly during the study ?
• Is there any reimbursement for travel costs or childcare ?


• Can anyone find out whether I’m participating in the study ?
• Can I withdraw from the study at any time, and what will happen then to my medical care ?
• What are the credentials and research experience of the physician and study staff ?
• When and how will the results of the clinical study be provided to me ?

• Will I incur any costs for any part of the study ? Will my health insurance cover these costs ?
• What financial or other interests does the investigator have in the clinical trial ?
• Who can I contact if I have further questions about the study ?
